“Tribute to Jochen Rindt - World Champion 1970
by Nicholas Watts
A controversial and charismatic character of enormous skill and self-confidence, Jochen Rindt’s career ended tragically when he was killed during final practice for the 1970 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. He was 28 years old and did not live to see his greatest ambition realised. The image depicts Jochen’s last Grand Prix victory at Hockenheim driving the Lotus 72 in which he maneuvered the Ferrari 312 of Jacky Ickx on the final lap to score a memorable victory.
German Grand Prix, Hockenheim, 2nd August 1970
